Console Log History

Requirements

• Export captureConsoleLog as named and default. With no argument, intercept console.log. An optional target object with a writable log method may be supplied for isolated testing.
• Return { history, restore }. history starts empty and contains one fresh argument array per call, including calls with no arguments. Store values by reference, without serialization or deep cloning.
• Forward each call exactly once to the original log method with the target as this and the original arguments. Record the call before forwarding, including when the original throws; propagate that error.
• restore() reinstates the exact original function and is idempotent. Calls after restoration are not captured; existing history remains accessible.
• Only log is intercepted. Overlapping captures on the same target and other code replacing target.log during a capture are outside scope. Use try/finally to restore the logger in application code.
