useCounter

Requirements

• Export useCounter(initialValue = 0) as both a named and default function. The initial value is a finite number, including negative numbers and decimals, and initializes state only on the first render.
• Return { count, setCount, increment, decrement, reset }, where count is the current numeric state.
• increment() adds exactly one and decrement() subtracts exactly one from the latest pending state. There are no lower or upper bounds.
• setCount accepts either a number or an updater (previous: number) => number, matching React state setter behavior.
• reset() restores the original initial value from the first render. Changing the initial argument later must neither reset the count nor change the reset target.
• Updates trigger React rerenders. Multiple calls in one event must compose in their original order, including setCount, reset, increment, and decrement.
• Each instance must stay independent. Previously saved utility methods must operate on the latest pending state rather than a captured old count.
• Call the hook inside a React component or another hook and use React state. Invalid inputs, custom step sizes, bounds, persistence, and callback or result-object memoization are outside this first challenge’s requirements.

Examples

Input: useCounter()
Output: count is 0 on the first render.

Input: useCounter(5); then increment(); increment() in one event
Output: count is 7 after the next render.

Input: setCount((previous) => previous * 2)
Output: The current count is doubled after the next render.

Input: useCounter(5); then setCount(99); reset()
Output: count returns to 5.
